Process is a proud supporter of Going Green and the techniques listed on this page. Our office takes all the steps that we can to help better our use of planet resources. At Process our work allows us to be a Green Company with committed practices and minimal effort. Since we supply Design, Marketing and Web Development we use close to no materials except computers to complete our work. To learn more about ways that Process saves energy and resources keep reading below.

Greener homes are in the spotlight these days, but what about the other places where many of us spend huge chunks of our time--our offices? Some simple changes of habit can save energy and resources at work, and these small steps can be multiplied by persuading the powers-that-be at your workplace to adopt environmentally friendly (and often cost-effective) policies.

The below steps are just a couple of ways we help to save energy and resources.

Maximize computer efficiency:
Computers in the business sector unnecessarily waste $1 billion worth of electricity a year.
1) Make it a habit to turn off your computer—and the power strip it's plugged into—when you leave for the day. Otherwise, you're still burning energy even if you're not burning the midnight oil. During the day, setting your computer to go to sleep automatically during short breaks can cut energy use by 70 percent. Remember, screen savers don't save energy.
2) Make it a policy to invest in energy-saving computers, monitors, and printers and make sure that old equipment is properly recycled. Look for a recycler that has pledged not to export hazardous e-waste and to follow other safety guidelines. Old computers that still work, and are less than five years old, can be donated to organizations that will refurbish them and find them new homes. (You may even get a tax deduction.)

Go paperless when possible:
1) Make it a habit to think before you print: could this be read or stored online instead ( Hence another reason to have a website :) ? When you receive unwanted catalogs, newsletters, magazines, or junk mail, request to be removed from the mailing list before you recycle the item.
2) Make it a policy to post employee manuals and similar materials online, rather than distribute print copies. They're easier to update that way too.

Reconsider your commute
1) Make it a habit to carpool, bike, or take transit to work, and/or telecommute when possible. If you need to drive occasionally, consider joining a car-sharing service like Zipcar and Flexcar instead of owning your own wheels ( Living closer to a city makes this easier ).
2) Make it a policy to encourage telecommuting (a nice perk that's also good for the planet!) and make it easy for employees to take alternative modes of transportation by subsidizing commuter checks, offering bike parking, or organizing a carpool board.

FEATURED: Brighter Planet

Brighter Planet develops innovative tools to help manage and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon future.

Personal footprint tools. Our free social web application lets users track their climate impact with the world's most rigorous personal carbon footprint calculator, and manage and share their actions to reduce that impact. We offer the nation's leading green credit and debit cards, an innovative way to fight climate change by helping build renewable energy projects with every purchase—the same community wind turbines, cow power installations, and other clean energy projects funded through our carbon offsets.

Crowd-powered philanthropy. Our social giving platform, wowcrowd (in private beta), lets businesses, campaigns, foundations, and other organizations engage their members by allowing them to propose, discuss, and vote on ideas to receive project funding. This service grew out of the viral success of the Project Fund, Brighter Planet's own community-powered monthly grant program for grassroots climate projects.

Carbon middleware. Our API (in private beta) lets businesses integrate authoritative carbon data from our emissions model into their own applications. Our climate data clearinghouse (in private beta) also makes available normalized energy use and carbon emissions data sets from dozens of government agencies.

We have a small, committed team, and are proud to have some of the nation's leading environmentalists on our Project Selection Committee, our Advisory Board, and our Board of Directors. We partner with a diverse range of organizations—large and small, for profit and non-profit—all united to support solutions to the climate crisis.

Brighter Planet recently was named Small Business of the Year by Treehugger and received the Social Innovation Award for "most strategic philanthropy" from Justmeans and Financial Times.

CAREERS:
